With regard to vaccination, any person is free in his/her choice. Such a statement made today Andria Jagmaidze, the Head of the public relations department of the Patriarchate.
“Today, the church has the February 11 ruling of the Synod as a guide regarding vaccination, which reads:
We welcome the fact that the coronavirus pandemic vaccination process has been declared voluntary and not mandatory. This is especially important today, when the vaccine is newly developed.
We note that any person, regardless of his or her social status, public or private activities, should not be subjected to harassment, insult or persecution, both in the case of vaccination and non-vaccination.
The church cannot take responsibility for the promotion of vaccination, because it is the competence and responsibility of health workers”, - added Andria Jagmaidze.
