Georgian weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze wins European championship, improves his world record

Georgian weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze improved his world record at the European Championship in Moscow and won a gold medal.

Talakhadze lifted 222 kg on the third attempt and improved his world record by 2 kg.

According to the Georgian Weightlifting Federation, Talakhadze has improved his own records with 211/ 217/ 222 kg in snatch and 245/ 253/263 kg in clean and jerk. He finished the championship with the combined results of 485 kg.

Overall, Georgian athletes have grabbed a total of 8 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medal in Moscow, which hosted the 2021 European weightlifting championship on April 3-11.
