About 350 workers of bottling factories at the Borjomi mineral water plant have gone on strike. They are demanding higher salaries and better working conditions.
The protesters claim that their salaries were reduced by 200-250 GEL in 2020. Further, they could not take a break due to lack of staff and were paid only a small amount for overtime work. The operation of both factories were stopped as a result of the strike.
According to the Labor Union of Agriculture, Trade, and Industry which organized the collective action, the decision to strike came after the failed 21-day mediation with the company.
