The process of mass vaccination was discussed during today’s meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council. Last week, the country received a million doses of Sinopharm and Sinovac, vaccines authorized by the World Health Organization, an event followed the resumption of registration.

The Prime Minister was briefed by the Health Ministry on the process of vaccination and reservations, noting that 160 medical facilities are presently engaged in the nationwide vaccination program, and registration for immunization is possible both on an e-portal and direct hotlines, with relevant information about them available on the website of the Center for Disease Control. Those seeking vaccination can also register in person, in a clinic.

In addition, the country is expecting additional vaccine doses to be supplied incrementally in the nearest future. Consequently, up to 4 million doses in all will be mobilized in eth country by the end of this year.

Irakli Garibashvili emphasized the importance of effective management in mass vaccination, pointing out that it is imperative for the process to be rapid, while no flaw complicating the process should be tolerated.

The Interagency Coordination Council also discussed the country’s epidemiological situation.

Alongside vaccination, facemasks remain one of the most effective ways of preventing the spread of the virus. Facemasks remain mandatory in places of mass gatherings, including at bus stops, marketplaces, public transport, and indoor facilities.

Since the first coronavirus case identified in Georgia, the country has seen 371,293 confirmed cases, with 355,718 recoveries and 5,383 deaths.

Presently, 69 persons are in quarantine, 837 are in clinical hotels, and 2,961 are hospitalized under medical supervision.
