NATO - Georgia joint naval exercise in the Black Sea

MIA Border Police Coast Guard and NATO Naval Unit ships conducted the joint naval exercise in the Black Sea.

The exercise was held as a part of the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2 (SNMCMG2) port visit.

MIA Border Police Coast Guard patrol boat SOKHUMI and NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2 ships: ESPS RAYO (Spain), ROS LT LUPU DINESCU (Romania), BGS SHKVAL (Bulgaria), TCG EDINCIK (Turkey) and ITS VIAREGGIO (Italy) participated in the joint naval manoeuvres.

The purpose of the exercise is to increase the interoperability of the Georgian and NATO naval forces and strengthen our country"s defence capabilities.

NATO Naval Units regularly visit Georgian Ports, which is one of the tangible results of NATO-Georgia cooperation in terms of strengthening the Black Sea security. It is the second time NATO ships have visited Georgia in 2021.
