Parliamentary majority responds to the inclusion of Lekso Lashkarava in the UNESCO’s list of killed journalists. According to the Speaker of the legislature, it is unfortunate that some politicians are still speculating on human life and death.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office will make a statement. An investigation is underway, an expert examination has been conducted and the public is aware of the preliminary data. It is unfortunate that some politicians still speculate on human life and death.
Representatives of the parties are speculating. UNESCO is not an investigative body and does not draw conclusions. It has sent a question to the Georgian government about the circumstances in which Lekso Lashkarava died.
They are waiting for an answer. The date of Lashkarava’s death in the UNESCO list is incorrectly listed as July 5 instead of July 11”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
UNESCO has included TV Pirveli cameraman Lekso Lashkarava in the list of journalists killed in the world.
