The Ministry of Internal Affairs condemns any action motivated by violence. For the agency, any form of violence perpetrated from the side of a police officer is completely unacceptable that may violate human rights.

On January 24 of the current year, the video footage recorded in Tbilisi Metro has been disseminated by media sources, depicting the alleged fact of crime committed by the police officer.

The General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, launched the investigation into the mentioned fact as soon as the video footage was released within the frames of which the obtained materials have already been forwarded to the State Inspector’s Office.

The State Inspector’s Office has initiated an investigation under Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Georgia on the fact of abuse of power by a police officer.
