The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Dimitri Khundadze held an introductory meeting with the new Health Minister, Zurab Azarashvili to discuss the challenges and plans in the healthcare sphere.

The parties overviewed the pandemic-related issues, as well as the problems in the pharmaceutical and social spheres and the IDP issues. The parties agreed on further cooperation and constant communication.

“The meeting was very productive with the Minister. Our Committee members, including from the Opposition were actively engaged in the discussion. We discussed the relevant issues, as well as the necessity of improvement of communication between the Ministry and the Committee. We agreed on the necessity of certain changes. We also discussed the gaps in the pharmaceutical sphere. The main initiative has already been announced about the opening of the Turkish market, which we will discuss at the next meeting in the Ministry along with the presentation of the Bill we have initiated. We will hear the positions of the Ministry and other parties concerned. We also planned the fundamental reform changes to further improve the problematic pharmaceutical sector. We overviewed the IDP issues and the social problems”, - said Dimitri Khundadze.
