US President Joe Biden arrives in Brussels

U.S. President Joe Biden arrived Wednesday in Brussels where he will meet with NATO and European allies and is expected to announce a new round of sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.

“He will join our partners in imposing further sanctions on Russia and tightening the existing sanctions to crack down on evasion and to ensure robust enforcement”, - White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said.

The NATO summit will be a pivotal meeting for global security as 30 world leaders will address the consequences of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

They will also discuss the role of China, and decide on the next steps to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence.
