The Orthodox Church celebrates the Ascension of the Savior

Orthodox Ascension Day is celebrated on the first Thursday of June every year, and takes place on June 2 this year.

It marks the ascension of Jesus Christ and is observed by all members of the Orthodox Church.

The Orthodox Church stresses the importance of worshiping Christ in the correct (orthodox) way, passed on from the early days of Christianity when Jesus walked the Earth spreading the gospel. As such, Orthodox Ascension Day, also known as the Feast of Ascension, is considered one of the most important holidays for members of this church.

In connection with the holiday, a solemn service is held in all functioning churches of Georgia.
