Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 7 people for drug crimes, including 3 drug dealers

The officers of Tbilisi Police Department under the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 7 people, including 3 drug dealers, as a result of operative measures and investigative activities carried out in Tbilisi and Shida Kartli regon.

The following persons have been charged for illegal purchase, possession, sale and the attempted sale of drugs: N.M. (DoB 1993), Kh.K. (DoB1992) and L.T. (DoB 1980).

L.S. (DoB1993) has been arrested for illegal purchase and storage of drugs in especially large quantities as well as I.A., (DoB199).

T.G. (DoB 1963) is accused of illegal purchase and storage of drugs in especially large quantities, illegal import of drugs in large quantities into Georgia, illegal purchase and storage of psychotropic substances and illegal import of psychotropic substances in especially large quantities into Georgia.

As for another defendant – foreign citizen F.Z. (DoB 1987), he was detained at Tbilisi International Airport for illegal purchase, storage and illegal import of drugs in especially large quantities into Georgia.

The committed crimes envision from 8 to 20 years or lifetime imprisonment.

The investigation found that persons arrested for drug trafficking sold drugs on the regular basis. The law enforcers, based on the judge’s decision, carried out several control purchases of drugs from the accused persons and videotaped the mentioned process.

During the personal search and search activities held in residential houses of the arrested drug dealers, the police seized as evidence large quantities of various types of drugs packed for sale and money allegedly obtained from the sale of drugs. Policemen also seized drugs placed at different locations for further sale.

Law enforcers seized a total of 33 packages of cocaine, 155 grams of methadone, more than 85 grams of heroin, 1 pill of ecstasy, 83 tablets of LSD, 295 pills of Subutex, 1040 pills of “Oxycodone” and 690 pills “Lyrica”.

Investigation is in progress on the facts of the attempted illegal purchase-storage and sale of large and especially large quantities of narcotics, illegal purchase and storage of large quantities of narcotics, illegal importation of large quantities of narcotics into Georgia, illegal purchase and storage of psychotropic substances in Georgia. Investigation is conducted under Articles 260, 19-260, 261, 262 and 263 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
