The Russian invaders are targeting the ash dumps of the Zaporizhzhya thermal power plant, which increases the radiation level, writes odessa-journal.com.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“Mortar attacks on the suburbs of Energodar have recently had a specific goal: the ash dumps of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. These are storage sites for ash that is generated during the operation of thermal power plants. This waste has a high concentration of toxic substances and a radiation level that is at least 2.5 times higher than the natural background “Drying, they form dust that can travel long distances. As a result of mortar strikes on ash dumps, clouds of dust are formed, which are carried by the wind in the vicinity of Energodar”, - the report says.

The intelligence noted that the occupiers used this to create the necessary “picture” at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

“Monitoring of the radiation background, which is carried out near the nuclear power plant, indicates an increase in the level of radiation. The occupiers are trying to present these data as the results of mythical “shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, - the HUR emphasizes.
