A newborn baby was abandoned near a dumpster in the center of Taranto, writes quotidiano.net.
“The bundle was found around 7 this morning by a woman who was going to leave the garbage bag right at the dumpster. It was the crying of the newborn that caught her attention. The woman then called the police, who arrived shortly after on the spot. The baby was in a bag with a teddy bear and a blanket.
The child, who has very few hours to live, was then immediately taken to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Taranto. Luckily, his conditions appeared good. Doctors confirmed that the baby had been given birth a few hours before the discovery.
The mother was traced a few hours later - she is a 20-year-old Georgian girl. The woman was investigated for abandonment, it was the Police who identified her from the video surveillance images of the area. On the other hand, the news that her mother had been traced after she had gone to the Moscati first intervention point for a check was denied: it emerged that it was another woman. Now the 20-year-old is in the same hospital, the Santissima Annunziata in Taranto, where her son was taken this morning. The baby is fine and weighs 3 kilos, the health personnel gave him the name of Lorenzo”.
