Shalva Papuashvili meets the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia

The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

The parties highlighted the Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed in January 2024 between Georgia and Armenia as a logical perpetuation of the historical friendship between the two countries.

Shalva Papuashvili thanked Ararat Mirzoyan for the initial support of the UN Resolution on IDPs and Refugees from the Occupied Territories of Georgia.

The parties stressed the solid links between the governments and legislative bodies of Georgia and Armenia and underlined the significance of parliamentary diplomacy for further enhancement of the cooperation.

The discourse included the consideration of regional peace. The emphasis was placed on the imperative nature of the conclusion of the peacebuilding agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to ensure peace and welfare in the region.

Mirzoyan expressed his gratitude for the commitment of Georgia to facilitating regional peace.

The meeting was attended by the First Vice-Speaker, the Head of the Georgia-Armenia Friendship Group, Giorgi Volski; the Chair of the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, Irakli Kadagishvili; the member of the Georgia-Armenia Friendship Group, Sumbat Kyuregyan; and the Ambassador of Georgia to Armenia, H.E. Giorgi Sharvashidze.
