Our potential is paramount in strengthening the connectivity function of Europe and the Black Sea region, discussions with European counterparts on these important topics are crucial – Kobakhidze

The Prime Minister of Georgia highlighted his participation in the European Political Community Summit in the United Kingdom alongside world leaders.

He emphasised that a note specifically about Georgia was made in a joint document of the European Political Community Summit, highlighting the “special importance” of the country in terms of energy connectivity and transit function in general.

"I had the opportunity to speak on the issue of energy connectivity, which was one of the main topics discussed at this Summit. Our country is constantly working to further strengthen its transit function, which is especially important in light of the geopolitical situation that has developed in Ukraine since the beginning of the war with Russia. We have a lot of resources to outline the function of our country in this regard, including within the framework of the Middle Corridor initiative.

I shared with colleagues information about his Government’s 10 ongoing and planned projects that serve to strengthen Georgia’s transit function, especially in the field of energy”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He also held bilateral meetings with officials from different European countries and organisations, “using the format of the event to share the messages” related to the “national interests” of Georgia, discuss the relations between Georgia and the EU: “As soon as the political situation in the Black Sea region calms down, the attitude towards Georgia will immediately change”.
