Judoka Lasha Bekauri is a two-time Olympic champion. He defeated the Japanese Sanshiro Murao in the final and brought the first gold medal to the Georgian national team.

Bekauri beat Japan’s Sanshiro Murao 2:1 with a vazar 4 seconds before the end of the main time. It should be mentioned that Lasha Bekauri also won the gold medal in the men’s 90 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
