Migration Department, Border Police detained 7 citizens of foreign countries who are in Georgia without a legal basis – MIA

Employees of Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 7 citizens of Nigeria, Iran, Egypt and Ghana based on the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”.

“It was determined that the detained persons were in the country without a legal basis, taking into account the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”. They did not take advantage of the deadlines set by the expulsion decision, which implies leaving the country voluntarily, as a result of which the decision was made by the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to detain the mentioned persons.

In order to enforce the decision, the arrested persons are currently placed in the temporary accommodation center of the Migration Department with the aim of returning them to their country of origin later”, - reads the statement of MIA.
