I am proud to be a Georgian - Kakha Kaladze congratulates the Olympic champions on their victory

I am proud to be a Georgian, I am proud that I born in this country, said the Mayor of Tbilisi, while congratulating the Olympic champions on their victory.

“Lasha Talakhadze, Geno Petriashvili, Lasha Bekauri - these are the people who won gold medals at the Paris Olympic Games and as a result, the Georgian national anthem was played. I sincerely want to congratulate them on this great success, because they made the whole of Georgia happy.

The leader of the weightlifting team, Lasha Talakhadze, snatched 215 kg and squatted 255 kg at the Paris Olympic Games and took first place with the sum of 470 kg accumulated in both lifts. Freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili wrote history at the Paris Olympic Games - he became the first Georgian wrestler in the history of Georgia to win all three Olympic medals at the Olympic Games. Lasha Bekauri is the first Georgian judoka who became a two-time Olympic champion. At this year’s Olympic Games, the Georgian delegation won seven medals. In addition to three gold medals, silver medals were won by Givi Macharashvili in freestyle wrestling, Ilia Sulamanidze and Tato Grigalashvili in judo, and boxer Lasha Guruli won a bronze medal. Each Olympic champion will receive GEL 1 000 000, the silver medalist – GEL 500 000, and the bronze prize winner – GEL 250 000, for which I would like to thank the head of the Government of Georgia. I congratulate all the athletes once again, thank you for cheering us on and wish you even more success in the future. Also, I would like to thank the Olympic Committee, coaching and medical team”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
