As a result of the amnesty, 1,000 convicts were released. Those who were affected by the new law left today the prison.

Up to 4,800 convicts had their sentences reduced by different terms.

Amnesty envisages full or partial exemption from punishment in more than 290 articles of the Criminal Code. The Parliament adopted the law “On Amnesty” on September 17.
