Batumi bypass is part of the strategic European road route and it is also of special importance for the development of Batumi as a resort city - Irakli Kobakhidze

The Batumi bypass is part of the strategic European road route and it is also of special importance for the development of Batumi as a resort city. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made in his speech at the opening ceremony of the 14 km long Batumi bypass road.

“I want to congratulate all of you on the opening of the Batumi bypass highway. This road is a part of the strategic European road route and it is also of special importance for the development of Batumi as a resort city.

Batumi is recognized by a number of authoritative organizations as a growing European tourist destination and the best place for investments in Europe. It is a city of 4 seasons and has received the “Oscar” of tourism. All this shows that the city is constantly developing and the state is supporting it with the right plan and this support will continue in the future. Another example of all this is the 14-km Batumi bypass highway, which will be opened today.

This road bypasses Batumi and completely relieves the city from transit traffic. The new road starts near Makhinjauri and ends in Khelvachauri, although it is connected to the surrounding settlements and different districts of Batumi with transport nodes.

43% of the traffic moving on the old road will move through the Batumi bypass, thus the city will be significantly relieved, living and leisure conditions in Batumi will improve, road capacity and transit cargo turnover will increase.

From all points of view, this bypass highway is of great importance for the development of the country, the region and the city of Batumi“, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
