The Ministry of Internal Affairs categorically denies information that the headquarters of the Special Tasks Department was set up in the Tbilisi State University building.
“In order to inform the public, we would like to respond to the information spread in the media alleging that on November 18-19 of the current year, during the protest on Melikishvili Avenue, a special headquarters of the MIA was set up at TSU and employees of the Special Tasks Department were present in the university building.
We would like to emphasize that on November 18-19, no headquarters was located in either the building or the yard of TSU, nor were employees of the Special Tasks Department mobilized.
We would like to clarify that employees of the Criminal Police of the MIA entered the yard of TSU after several fires reportedly started by the protest participants at the central entrance to the yard.
It is worth noting that the yard and pantheon of TSU are not closed and the space is open for everyone, including the protest participants, who freely use the university yard during the protests”, - reads the statement.
