26 days after the elections, we have not observed any tangible circumstances indicating systematic violations - Giorgi Kalandarishvili

Twenty-six days after the elections, we have not observed any tangible circumstances indicating systematic violations or any infractions that could have influenced the election results. Such a statement the Chairman of the Central Election Commission [CEC] after the questioning at the Prosecutor’s Office.

“The public is aware that based on the CEC’s request, the Prosecutor’s Office is investigating potential falsification, and the institution is, of course, closely collaborating with the prosecution. For two simple reasons: firstly, as a collegial administrative body, and secondly, it is crucial to provide the prosecution with all significant information and evidence that can address unfounded accusations or false information related to potential falsification cases.

I was summoned for questioning within the investigation. I immediately appeared and provided all the information at my disposal to the Prosecutor’s Office that would be important. As you know, the investigation is ongoing, and various employees are being questioned. I believe this investigation will continue, and other individuals will be interrogated, which will be crucial for effectively conducting the probe.

Today is the 26th day since the elections, and until now, we have not seen any tangible circumstances suggesting systematic violations or any infractions that could have influenced the results. Multiple court hearings have already been conducted, and electoral disputes have passed through two instances, which also confirmed that no violations of secrecy occurred and no substantive violations took place that could have impacted the election results”, - said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.
