Nika Gvaramia’s trial starts at Tbilisi City Court

Nika Gvaramia’s trial begins in Tbilisi City Court. One of the leaders of the Coalition for Changes is being held under administrative detention. He was transferred to the Marneuli temporary detention center.

“He is accused of violating Articles 166 and 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the maximum sanction of which is up to 15 days of administrative detention. Nika Gvaramia was brought to court this morning. The lawyers were not aware of this information and they were planning to hold the trial without us. Only after Nika himself requested the presence of his lawyers, the trial was postponed and we were given one hour to appear in court”, - said his lawyer, Dimitri Sadzaglishvili.

Nika Gvaramia was detained two days ago near the office of “Droa” on Sharashidze Street, where a search was underway. He wanted to enter the office and attend the trial, which resulted in a confrontation with police.
