GEL 10 million allocated for the program to provide socially vulnerable pensioners with medicines this year - City Hall

Tbilisi Mayor said a programme for providing medicines to socially vulnerable pensioners living in the Georgian capital city would continue this year with an allocation of GEL 10 million.

“We pay special attention to social and healthcare programmes, for which quite large sums are provided in the budget. We will always stand by those families and people who still need our support and assistance.

We must ensure our country’s economy develops in a way that minimizes the number of poor families and individuals. Each citizen should experience prosperity within their family. Our policies are focused on promoting peace, fostering economic development, and strengthening our nation. Every citizen of Georgia should feel the impact of these efforts.

This programme was our election pledge and, of course, we are fulfilling it this year as well. The annual value of the voucher is GEL 500, which socially vulnerable Tbilisi pensioners can use at any time during the year. To benefit from this initiative, pensioners only need to visit a family doctor, who will prescribe necessary medications, which can then be processed electronically at any pharmacy. The programme had been used by around 25,000 beneficiaries over the past 3 years”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
