Mikheil Saakashvili is mentally unwell and remains a threat today, not just in the past. Such a statement Mikheil Kareli, the State Representative of Shida Kartli from 2007 to 2014, made at the session of the parliamentary investigative commission.
In his testimony, Kareli discussed the era of Mikheil Saakashvili’s leadership, describing him as a dangerous individual.
“He is mentally unwell and remains a threat today, not just in the past. I want to be clear: I fully support the work of this commission and am willing to cooperate if there are further questions. I can’t shake the feeling that, in a previous life, I somehow served as Hitler’s assistant.
Once I saw him in an emotional state, and it is not necessary for a person to have a higher medical education to diagnose him. He is truly mentally ill in the full sense of the word. I also wrote a statement about my resignation at that time. He summoned me, threw everything around his office like a madman and warned me not to do something like that again and if I did, he knew where he would send me.
Due to this relationship, I have repeatedly told [Irakli] Okruashvili that one day I would end up in prison, because his actions were absolutely unacceptable to me and I no longer had the obligation to tolerate them.
Despite the fact that I still could not survive this misfortune, I could not even imagine what awaited my family and loved ones after all this. Of course, the reason was that I sided with the opposition, sided with the protest charge, and immediately ordered my arrest.
They took me to Ortachala prison, where they physically beat me. Then they filled something with water and left me in this concrete room for 4 days… They asked me to testify against Okruashvili, and when they couldn’t get it, they behaved more and more cruelly. Then Okruashvili was arrested too. You remember Okruashvili’s shameful testimony, and then, when he couldn’t get everything he wanted from me, he transferred all the pressure to my family members, my elderly parents.
He took away all the property registered in my parents’ names. How he legally packaged this is another topic… My siblings were all fired from their jobs on the grounds that I had hired them and my mother to work. However, at that time I was a university student when my sisters started working and my mother worked as a piano teacher at a music school before I was born. My sisters were also primary school teachers at the school.
Then I received daily messages that they were going to evict my parents from their home.
They were unable to do this because the neighborhood, the village, opposed them and in the end, this war, which was one of its greatest adventures, burned down and completely destroyed the house where I was born and raised, the house my grandfather…
That is why I say that he is a mentally dangerous person, he is mentally ill and I still consider him dangerous today”, - said Mikheil Kareli.
