In Chiatura, a confrontation erupted between representatives of the Korokhnali mine administration and protesting miners, preventing the management from entering the mine.

As Chiatura Management Company LLC said, their representatives had arrived at the mine for monitoring purposes. Law enforcers were also deployed to the scene.

The incident has now been resolved. The protest continues in the centre of Chiatura. Seven protesters are currently on a hunger strike.

Protesters demand payment of their overdue salaries, call for the departure of the investor, Georgian Manganese, from the city, urge the Government to take control of the mine`s management.
