David Songulashvili, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia visited the almond orchards of the company ‘’Ivris Farms’’ in the Kakheti region.
The mentioned company is a beneficiary of several state support programs, including Preferential Agro-credit and the “Plant the Future” grant initiative.
Founded in 2022, Ivris Farms is dedicated to developing a modern and sustainable model for nut crop production. At this stage, the company’s almond orchards cover 350 hectares.
During his visit, Songulashvili emphasized the country’s growing potential in nut crop production, particularly almonds, and highlighted the importance of fully utilizing these opportunities: “In recent years, with the support of state programs, the intensive cultivation of nut orchards has gained momentum; production of Georgian hazelnuts, almonds, and walnuts continues to grow steadily, resulting in an increasing share of high-quality Georgian products in international markets. The rising demand is reflected in our export figures. Such progress strengthens our economic foundations and highlights the importance of continued government support for these initiatives. Our ultimate goal remains the same: to generate greater national wealth, which is essential for improving the well-being of every Georgian citizen”.
‘’Ivris Farms’’ collaborates closely with Spanish agricultural experts, applying phytosanitary and fertilization plans tailored to the needs of the orchard and complying with European regulations. The orchards are equipped with a modern drip irrigation system supplied from the Ivri River. For the effective use of the drip irrigation system and the electrification of the “Ivris Farms” warehouse space, the company has also created a 1.75-megawatt power grid.
“In 3 years, we expect to export up to 160 tonnes of almonds annually. Once the orchards “reach full maturity”, our export capacity will increase to 800–900 tonnes. Through our operations, we are creating jobs and making a significant contribution to the agronomic and economic development of the region and the country”, - said Nino Tskhadaia, Director of Ivris Farms.
