The Government of Georgia officially nominated Tamar Taliashvili for the position of Ambassador of Georgia to the US, submitting her candidacy to the President of Georgia for approval.
According to the decree, signed by Prime Minister, the appointment would take effect on July 10 [in accordance with Article 52 of the Constitution and relevant legal provisions].
Taliashvili previously served as a member of the Tbilisi City Council and Chairperson of the Education and Culture Commission. Since 2017, she has been Vice-President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia. From 2018, she held the position of Vice-President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. In 2020 - 2022, Taliashvili was a member of the 10th convocation of the Parliament, representing the Georgian Dream. In October 2022, she was appointed Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe.
