By a joint decision of the President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze will be awarded the Order of Honour in recognition of his remarkable achievement as world champion at the ongoing 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships in Tbilisi.
For the first time in his career, Sandro Bazadze claimed the world championship title. He secured his triumph by defeating French competitor Jean-Philippe Patrice in the men’s epee final at the ongoing 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships in Tbilisi.
The 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships started in Tbilisi on July 22. Georgia is hosting the event for the first time in its history. 1,205 athletes from 120 countries are participating.
