During the period of October 01-09 of the current year, at the customs checkpoint “Sadakhlo-Saavtomobilo”, facts of an attempt to illegally import a large amount of undeclared cigarettes across the country’s border were prevented.

Customs officers of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, based on the relevant risk profile and suspicion, as a result of a detailed inspection of both physical and belonging luggage/cars of Georgian and foreign citizens, discovered a total of 8,200 undeclared cigarettes.

In accordance with Part 3 of Article 168 of the Customs Code of Georgia, the goods were confiscated from the violating citizens as a sanction and a fine of 1,000 GEL was imposed on each of them.
