Prosecutor’s Office has charged one person with attempted murder, causing bodily harm, and violence

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged one person with attempted murder under aggravating circumstances against his wife, causing bodily harm to his mother, and violence against her.

The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that on July 22, in Marneuli Municipality, the accused stabbed his wife and also raped his own mother in the presence of a minor, causing her health damage.

Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on the same day. He was charged under Article 126, Part 2, Subparagraph “b” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (domestic violence in the presence of a minor against a member of his own family), Article 11, Part 2, Subparagraph “b” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional minor injury to health against a member of his own family), and Article 11, Subparagraphs “t” and “k” of Articles 19-109 (attempted intentional murder under aggravating circumstances due to intolerance of equality between women and men against a member of his family), which provides for up to 20 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.

The Prosecutor’s Office shall apply to the court within the time limit established by law with a request to impose imprisonment on the accused as a preventive measure.
