Minister of Foreign Affairs said in interview with "Imedi TV" that the appointment of the new US Chargé d’Affaires was part of a routine diplomatic rotation, adding that she had already met with the diplomat to discuss the current state of Georgia-US relations.

As Maka Botchorishvili noted, she met with the new envoy at the earliest opportunity, with the two sides discussing recent developments in bilateral relations and prospects for future cooperation.

"This is a routine diplomatic rotation that has taken place. A new staff member has arrived at the Embassy of the US who will assume the duties of Chargé d’Affaires. At the very first opportunity I had a meeting with him, and we discussed the dynamics of Georgia-US relations.

In recent months, of course, there have been positive signs of an improvement in our relations.

We have repeatedly stated our position on what we expect in relations with the US. Our desire is for this relationship to be based on mutual respect, healthy, and for the strategic partnership to be filled with substance. Of course, we will continue working in this direction with the American side.

Naturally, the recent activities on Washington’s part are welcome, as they to a certain extent also give the Georgian side the opportunity for the Georgian authorities to present their positions to the US", - said Maka Botchorishvili.
