Prime Minister of Georgia laid a wreath of garland at the Heroes’ Memorial in Shindisi and paid tribute to the memory of the Georgian soldiers who lost their lives on August 11, 2008.

The Head of Government of Georgia stated that generations in the country should be raised following the example of the Heroes of Shindisi.

“Today, we pay tribute to the Heroes of Shindisi and honour their memory. Their heroism is truly exceptional and extraordinary. It is an example of heroism by which generations in our country should be raised and I am confident that this will indeed be the case. Their heroism is immortal and their souls are immortal. I would like to thank their parents and family members, and extend my special gratitude to their parents for giving such heroes to our country. Their heroism is and will remain an example for many generations in our country”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

The Head of Government of Georgia together with President Mikheil Kavelashvili and representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the country attended a memorial service for the fallen heroes.

On 11 August 2008, Georgian soldiers were killed heroically near the village of Shindisi. A memorial service in their honour was held by Metropolitan Andria of Gori and Ateni, together with members of the clergy.
