Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, and CEC Secretary, Giorgi Javakhishvili, observed the parliamentary elections that took place in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The CEC leadership observed the elections at the invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in their capacity as international observers.

During the visit, the delegation members observed the opening of polling stations, the conduct of the electoral process, and the closing of polling stations across the capital. They also held a meeting with the Chairperson and members of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, during which they were briefed on the range of activities undertaken by the election administration in preparation for and conduct of the parliamentary elections. As noted by CEC Chairperson Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the elections were administered by more than 70,000 election administrators across more than 12,000 polling stations, reflecting the substantial preparatory work undertaken in advance of the elections. According to him, the electoral process was distinguished by a high degree of organization, effective administration, and a well-informed electorate.

"Observation at the polling stations provided us with an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the organization and administration of the voting process. Within the scope of our observation, the process was characterized by a high degree of organization, the preparedness of election commission members, and an adequate level of voter awareness. At the same time, as international observers, we emphasize that our observation does not constitute a basis for a comprehensive assessment of the elections conducted across the country. The principal value of such visits lies in the exchange of experience and the strengthening of professional dialogue among election management bodies", - said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.

As part of the visit, the CEC Chairperson and Secretary visited the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Centre, where they met with Rostislav Konyashkin, First Deputy Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, the CEC representatives discussed the use of various electronic tools in government services and electoral processes, an issue of particular importance in the context of digital transformation. The Kazakh side shared its experience and practices in this area with the CEC leadership.

In addition, the Chairperson and Secretary of the CEC of Georgia held bilateral meetings with representatives of election management bodies from various countries, during which they discussed prospects for future cooperation. They also met with representatives of the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Kazakhstan, including Consul Temur Tartarashvili and Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Irakli Meskheli.

The parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan were held on 23 August. In addition to the election administration of Georgia, the electoral process was observed by nearly 60 delegates representing the election management bodies of 22 countries. Under the new Constitution, Kazakhstan held its first nationwide elections for the 145-member unicameral Parliament, with all 145 deputies elected on the basis of a proportional electoral system.
