The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, along with the Kvemo Kartli State Representative, Ilia Jalaghaniya, visited the Gardabani Livestock Farm, a beneficiary company of the Rural Development Agency, in Sartichala village, Gardabani Municipality. During the visit, company representatives briefed the Minister on the farm’s operations and development plans.
Gardabani Livestock LLC operates two farms. The farm in the village of Sartichala specializes in beef cattle production, while the farm in Lemshveniera operates in the breeding sector.
“It is essential to increase the number of farms operating in accordance with modern standards in the country and strengthen both breeding and beef and dairy production. Thus, the new Agro-Co-Financing Programme places particular emphasis on the livestock sector and provides specific mechanisms to support farm development and expand production. We aim to promote the growth of local production, improve productivity, and support the development of a competitive livestock sector”, - said David Songulashvili.
Moreover, to establish its farms and expand its operations, the company benefited from the Preferential Agrocredit Project on several occasions between 2024 and 2026. The financial support provided under the programme contributed to expanding the company’s production capacity.
As part of the Preferential Agrocredit Project, in 2012 -2026, commercial banks issued loans worth GEL 709.5 million across Georgia for the development of cattle farming, while co-financing provided by the Rural Development Agency amounted to GEL 156.3 million, including loans worth GEL 138.3 million issued in the Kvemo Kartli region, with the Rural Development Agency’s co-financing amounting to GEL 31.8 million.
From July 1, 2026, the Rural Development Agency has continued supporting the cattle-farming sector under the State Programme for Agro Co-Financing. The programme aims to promote the development of agricultural production and the creation of competitive products. The Director of the Rural Development Agency, Zurab Gozalishvili, and Head of the National Food Agency, Giorgi Iakobashvili, and representatives of the local authorities accompanied the Minister.
