At the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia, representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office met with the Head of the US Regional Security Office (RSO), the Attaché for Criminal Investigations Abroad, the Acting Attaché of the Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), and other representatives of the Embassy.

The bilateral meeting was attended by Tbilisi City Prosecutor Giorgi Mikaia, Head of the International Relations Department Giorgi Mikava, Deputy Tbilisi City Prosecutor Merab Jeranashvili, Head of the Tbilisi Investigation Department Gurgen Gilauri, and employees of the Tbilisi Prosecutor's Office.

At the meeting, the Head of the RSO David Huddleston presented letters of appreciation from the Acting US Ambassador to Georgia, Alan Parsell, to the employees of the Tbilisi Prosecutor's Office: Merab Jerenashvili, Gurgen Gilauri, Lasha Gamkrelidze, Mariam Gigauri, Mari Meshveliani, Marta Kikinashvili, Salome Shioshvili, and Lana Rusia for their successful cooperation in the creation of false stories, so-called “cases”, and corresponding false evidence necessary for the granting of asylum to Georgian citizens seeking asylum in the US.

“Once again, we thank you for your hospitality. As you mentioned, we have had the opportunity to meet many times and we are very grateful for the relationship that the entire US Embassy and the US law enforcement community has with the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office and Georgian law enforcement agencies. We are very pleased with our partnership and have worked closely with each of your investigators and prosecutors. I would like to express my personal gratitude”, - said David Huddleston, Head of the RSO.

At the meeting, the guests assessed this specific case as an exemplary example of cooperation between US and Georgian law enforcement agencies and emphasized the outstanding professionalism and demonstrated skills of the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office employees.

The parties discussed the prospects for deepening and developing future cooperation.
