The vast majority of participants in the October 4 and other violence confessed to the crime. Neither the EC’s assessment nor any briefing by the EU Embassy can change this anymore - Papuashvili

Murtaz Zodeleva and Lasha Beridze, organizers of the October 4 violent events, are free. They left prison today based on a plea bargain. The convicts confessed to the crime and repented. Through the plea bargain, Irakli Chkhvirkia, Guri Zhvania, Zurab Chavchanidze, Anton Vardanidze, and Nana Sander will also be released in a few days. The confession of the crime is welcomed by the ruling team, where they speak of a humane attitude.

As Speaker of the Georgian Parliament said, the majority of the individuals who participated in the October 4 and other violent protests confessed to the crime, which confirmed the fact of the violent events during court trials. He believes that the convicts should not rely on foreign support because, in his assessment, the organizers of the protests abandoned them and left the prison themselves based on plea bargains.

"The vast majority of participants in the October 4 and other violence confessed to the crime. Neither the European Commission’s assessment nor any briefing by the EU Embassy can change this anymore. It is over; everyone confessed that there were violent protests in 2024-2025, there was an attack on the Parliament of Georgia, there was an attack on the Presidential Palace of Georgia, and this violence has already been confessed, evaluated by the court, and sentences have been handed down.

Now, those who committed this violence have an opportunity to reflect on whether it was worth it for them to follow this foreign order and go against their own homeland?! They saw, didn’t they, that in the end, they were abandoned by the organizers, who cowardly left the penitentiary facility now. Those who were calling on them for "manly strength" and led them to the barricades, made them tear down fences, and almost caused a sea of blood in the center of Tbilisi - today, we saw they are all well-taken care of in the penitentiary facility and came out quietly, declaring that "politics is over, it wasn`t our business".

What do you think, does destabilizing a country require great revolutionaries? It is exactly such people - who later either say like Paata Manjgaladze, "I don`t know, I just happened to be in the photo by chance", or who later say, "I don`t want politics anymore, I ended up in politics by accident, I repented and left", and so on - such people cause the greatest bloodshed, and we have experienced this more than once in Georgia, among other places.

This is yet another proof of this, and I simply urge every person - their own country will look after them again. They should not rely on foreign countries that brought them to the barricades, condemned them to long-term imprisonment, and abandoned them in prison", - said Shalva Papuashvili.
