The United States Congress has discussed a resolution in support of Georgia`s territorial integrity. The resolution condemns Russia`s military intervention.

The US calls on Russia to reverse its decision to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, to avoid actions and policies that undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity and to take all necessary steps for the implementation of 12 August 2008 Russia-Georgia ceasefire agreement.

The authors of the resolution also call on the US government to declare that the US will never recognize the occupied territories de jure or de facto .

The resolution also states that the Geneva talks should continue and calls on the administration for the close cooperation Georgia , including in the sphere of defense.
