The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, has issued a corresponding order to ensure the conduction of Parliamentary Elections of Georgia on October 26, 2024 in a free, safe and peaceful environment.

According to the order, within the operational areas of the police departments, territorial groups will be created, responsible for the detection and prevention of violations.

In order to facilitate the election process in a safe and free environment, the relevant groups were instructed to ensure the adoption of appropriate measures in the operational area, as necessary, to implement preventive policing measures in accordance with the Law of Georgia "On Police".

The order obliges police officers to observe the principle of political neutrality while performing their official duties. According to the Order, It is impermissible, that the activities of a police officer (a representative of police forces) be directly or indirectly applied in favor or against any political party.
