Facts of obstructing Journalists` professional activities - MDF report

MDF will release today the results of a study regarding obstruction of Journalists` professional activities

They explained that in such cases the investigation is not conducted properly and often these cases do not have the qualification of obstructing the work of journalists.

The document also includes information on violations on the election day, blackmail with private life video tapes, secret recordings and cases of attacks on journalists.

"Obstructing the work of journalists in punishable by a fine or imprisonment, but we have not seen cases in which this sentence is being adequately used. Remember the incident at the airport in connection with the Rustavi 2 and the same problems faced by journalists in Kutaisi. The Interior Ministry and Prosecutor Office are responsible bodies , however, the monitoring function must be given to the parliament and the government, "- said the head of the MDF board Tamar Kintsurashvili.
