Sarpi customs checkpoint.has bee opened. Movement of citizens and vehicles has been resumed. The technical problems were eliminated about one hour ago and citizens of Turkey, Georgia and other countries may freely cross the border.

Movement of citizens (except for Turkish citizens) and vehicles had been delayed for three days due to technical problems at Sarpi checkpoint.

The Turkish Ambassador to Georgia commented on the situation..

"The information that there was a homemade bomb on the territory of Turkey and an explosion was prevented is not true. Unfortunately, this information was released by a local newspaper and it is a lie. As for the situation on the border, there was a technical problem with the software which did not allow the police and customs authorities to ascertain the identity of passengers. This did not happen only in Georgia, but similar problems were noted at all the border checkpoints .I hope the problem will be solved in a few hours , "- said the Turkish ambassador to Georgia.
