Media experts comment on the US State Department statement on Rustavi 2 case.

They say that it is a clear message to the government of Georgia that the court`s decision could affect the country`s European integration.

"Georgian authorities are told that Rustavi 2 case is a case that will determine the future of Euro-Atlantic integration process. I think this is a very clear message.

"The media independent from the government is vitally important for the Georgian democracy," - said Nino Danelia.

Media experts will talk about the political motives of teh case and believe that the functioning of Rustavi2 is crucial for the country`s democracy, as well as judicial independence and media pluralism.

"This is a political process and the statement of the US State Department`s statement clearly says that media pluralism and independence of the judiciary will be the most critical on the way to European integration," - said Tatia Tsopurishvili.
