The Chairman of "Democratic Initiative of Georgia" spoke about Rustavi 2 case in the Courier live. Giorgi Mshvenieradze highlighted the importance of media freedom.
"This case is of high political interest, which the judges were not able to overcome in the context of the law and trasferred teh case to the Grand Chamber. I hope that the Grand Chamber will share the concern of the international partners, "- said Mshvenieradze.
Mshvenieridze hopes that the Supreme Court shall make a fair decision. He also commented on the statement of Federica Mogherini, who talks about the necessity of freedom of media in Georgia.
"We have received this message from other leaders of our partners countries, their embassies. This message is translated from diplomatic language to non-diplomatic language as follows:the government should stay away from "Rustavi 2". The government should not try to prove that it was not involved in the case against Rustavi2, no one believes in the legal dispute neither inside nor outside the country, "- said Mshveneiradze.
George Mshvenieradze also commented about family relationship between Vano Zardiashvili and Mikheil Chinchaladze whom Nika Gvaramia blamed in putting pressure on judges. According to him, being relatives may not mean anything, however, in the context of Rustavi 2,case such a link causes doubt about the impartiality.
