"Rustavi 2" issue discussed at meeting of Georgian President and US ambassador to United Nations

Media pluralism was one of the main topics of discussion in Paris at Open Government fourth summit, attended by the president of Georgia.

Margvelashvili and the US Ambassador to the UN discussed the importance of media pluralism and in particular of Rustavi2 at the bilateral meeting, which was initiated by the American side.

One of the leaders of the majority Vice-Speaker Tamar Chugoshvili.made a statement on the Rustavi 2 case. According to her media freedom in Georgia today is the highest that it has ever been.

"Free media is an integral part of the democratic development of the country and I am sure whatever decision is taken by the court, Georgia will have a free and unbiased media," - said Tamar Chugoshvili.

The President`s visit to Paris is still going on.The President will have today meetings with the Chairperson of the French Parliamentary Assembly and students.

"The President drew attention to the achievements that Georgia has in terms of open government, and it is clear that we are one of the leaders in the region and are ready to share our experience with our partner countries.

It is important that this summit will be held in Georgia next year and for that we need to achieve more progress, "- said Giorgi Abashishvili.
