The protest action is taking place at the moment at the Olympic stadium in Digomi. Car owners , cae dealers, non-governmental organizations and ordinary citizens are protesting against the increase of the fuel excise and price of customs clearance of vehicles.

The protest march in the direction of the Parliament is scheduled where action-performance will be held.

According to the organizers, these changes would further impoverish the population and result in job losses.

One of the protesters said they wanted to meet with government officials and familiarize them with their position on why the tax should not be increased.

They allege that the increase of the excise tax will lead the increase in prices for all kinds of services.

“We want to meet with government officials and familiarize them with our position on why the tax should not be increased. This protest event has been organized by car dealers, car owners and students”, said one of the protesters.

In parallel the rally was held in Kutaisi and Zugdidi.
