Media project`s coordinator of the non-governmental organization "Transparency International - Georgia" spoke about the statements of the ruling party and its leaders regarding the Director General of Rustavi 2 in the live broadcast of the Courier.

Nino Robakidze said that their organization has been following the developments around Rustavi 2 from the very beginning. According to her, this is not the first time, when the ruling party or related persons has made irresponsible statements on Rustavi-2.

"If the majority leader has any additional information from the legal authorities about any additional evidence, then why does he have this evidence in the conditions of an independent investigation," - said Nino Robakidze.

Transparency International - Georgia`s representative said that the organization has collected dozens of statements made by the high- ranking autorities in the period when Rustavi2 trials went on , and even before, questioning the Rustavi 2 ownership, discussing its editorial policy and accusig Director General of concrete actions. According to her, all this serves only one purpose, to discredit the channel.

"From the date of the commencement of the trial, this process is a political process, and to deny this would be to stay in the ostrich position. Rustavi 2 case will be an important indicator of the development and evaluation of democratic processes, "- Nino Robakidze said.
