"Rustavi 2 today is a symbol of freedom of speech and all of us are obliged to protect this important value. The Georgian Muslims are by your side. Rustavi2 is ours," - the Georgian Muslims Union released a statement on Rustavi 2 case.

"The decision issued by the Supreme Court on Rustavi2 case once again reminded us of Nigvziani, Samtatskaro and other incidents when we were deprived of the possibility to perform the Friday prayer. I remembered how in the presence of the riot police the Tchela minaret was being destroyed. It is thanks to an active civil society and independent media that the government was forced to allow the Muslims in Georgia to perform the Friday prayers and re-erect the destroyed minaret.

"I think today keeping silent means refuting the obligation to protect country`s democratic institutions and freedom of speech which may put the the country and each of us in a deadlock.

"Rustavi 2 today is a symbol of freedom of speech and all of us are obliged to protect this important value. The Muslims are by your side. Rustavi2 is ours," - say the statement.
