Ruling team assert that Georgian side will be able to select candidates eligible for European Court

68 candidates will fight for the vacant position of a judge in the European Court of Human Rights. The filing of applications has been completed today. From now on, the selection phase begins by a special commission.

68 applicants have filed apllications in the European Court of Justice. It is not known yet when the Special Selection Commission will begin the review and selection process.

The Justice Minister will head the commission. In addition to executive, legislative and judicial authorities, several commission members will be from the civil sector. The Chairman of the Human Rights Committee is also a member of the Commission for selecting candidates for the European Court of Justice.

The ruling team asserts that this time the Georgian side will be able to select candidates eligible for Europe. However, they do not specify what are guarantees for this time.

None of the candidate who were rejected by the Council of Europe a few months ago has participated in the re-election. The European side rejected the candidacies of Eva Gotsiridze, Aleksandre Baramidze and Giorgi Badashvili in February.
