Amendments to the Law on Marijuana will be considered in the first reading at the plenary session today. It is about liberalization of light drug law and not on decriminalization.

According to the draft law, administrative penalty for purchase-storage and consumption may become 300, instead of 500 GEL.
The necessity of liberalization of existing drug policies is being discussed in the European Georgia. The UNM also supports the amendments.

"The main thing is that there will be no criminal liability for this amount. This will be replaced by fine . This is a positive step towards liberalization, "says Gigi Tsereteli.
