Several hours before the trial, Merab Ghoghoberidze, who was detained on Batumi case , was visited at the penitentiary establishment by a representative of the Public Defender, Tsiala Katamadze.

According to Tsiala Katamadze, Ghoghoberidze handed over materials on the case to the Public Defender`s office and also provided information on the conditions and the plea bargain offer to the Prosecutor`s Office .

The Public Defender`s Office , does not speak about details of the information provided by Goghoberidze but Katamadze said that the Prosecutor`s Office discussed Gogoberidze`s plea bargain. Tsiala Katamadze says that Ombudsman will study the information provided by Ghoghoberidze.

"We talked about certain types of details concerning the case proceedings and that they had some kind of offer regarding the procedure. No specific name or surnames were named, but he spoke about certain conditions that were put forward.

"We will try to establish the truth about these issues and then we can talk about it," Tsiala Katamadze said.

Merab Ghoghoberidze and Irakli Chkhvirkva were detained in connection with the Batumi events in March

None of the defendants recognize the charges filed by the prosecutor`s office.
